Counterfeit cosmetic products confiscated

September 4, 2007
More than 1,000 pieces of fake cosmetics imitating Aupres, Maybelline, Lancome and many other famous brands were confiscated last month in Qingdao, a port city of Shandong Province.

Under the help of Unitalen, officers with the Licang Administration for Industry and Commerce seized the fake cosmetics in late July after nearly a week’s investigation and hunting efforts.

The cosmetics were packed up in paper boxes that were usually used to hold ceramics in an obvious attempt to cheat inspection.

The packing of the counterfeits was rather crude and the smell was irritating and they would cause skin allergy or even disfigurement, according to officers of the bureau.

The case, the largest of its kind in the city, is still being investigated.
