Under Suspicion of Infringement, Google’s Online Library Faces Fight Back from China

September 22, 2009
According to The Observer on August 30, Google made a high-profile announcement that based on the Google digital library, Google is constructing the biggest online library in the world, where users everywhere can search for online books for free. However, this huge project has subjected Google to frequent encounters with various protest and lawsuits from publishers and other rights holders.

China is also involved now. According to Zhang Hongbo, Executive Vice Director of the China Written Works Copyright Society, the China Written Works Copyright Society will negotiate with Google regarding the unauthorized use of digitalized books which are copyrighted in China and will protect copyright owners’ rights.
