The Seminar on Social Responsibility of China IPR Agency Circle Successfully Held in Beijing

The Seminar on Social Responsibility of China IPR Agency Circle sponsored by Unitalen Attorneys at Law and China Trademark Monthly was successfully held in Beijing on December 14, 2006. The invited guests of the officials from State Administration for Industry and Commerce (the "SAIC") and State Intellectual Property Office (the "SIPO"), the principals from the IPR associations, and some famous IPR experts exchanged opinions and views on the topic of "how to understand and realize the social responsibility of the Chinese IPR agency circle". This seminar aimed to draw more attention from the whole IPR agency circle on their social responsibility, calling on the practitioners to develop themselves in a healthy manner, provide legal services in good faith and reciprocate the society.

The attendees of the seminar include Mr. YANG, Ye Xuan (the Deputy Chief of the Trademark Review and Adjudication Board), Mr. YUAN, De (the General Secretary of the China Patent Attorney Association), Mr. DONG, Tao (the researcher of the IPR Development Study Center of SIPO), Mr. ZHOU, Lin ( the Professor of IPR Study Center of the Institute of Social Science of P.R. China), Mr. ZHANG, Chu (the Professor of IPR Study Center of University of Law and Politics of P. R. China), Mr. CHEN, Hui (the Chief Editor of China Trademark Monthly ) and LI, Lei (the Deputy Chief of Unitalen Attorneys at Law). From their own points of view, the attendees expressed their understanding on the social responsibility of China IPR Agency Circle and analyzed the current situation of the social responsibility of Chinese IPR agency circle. The attendees also affirmed the endeavors and achievements made by Unitalen and other agencies has made in this regard and proposed different measures and solutions on the current problems raised regarding the social responsibility of the Chinese IPR agency circle. The seminar is believed to be the first meeting on the topic of social responsibility in the IPR agency circle.
