Shanghai ferreted out Counterfeit Cannon and Sony DC batteries; nine Japanese enterprises express gratitude through letter
News January 3: Shanghai government received a special letter recently. Nine Japanese enterprises including Cannon and Sony expressed their deep gratitude to Shanghai government for the effective legal enforcement in IPR protection and anti-counterfeiting.

In the beginning of the last year, Cannon Co., Ltd. found that some dealers in Shanghai sold a large number of counterfeit DC batteries through high-tech means such as the Internet. Cannon reported the clue to Shanghai Bureau of Public Security immediately. Upon receipt of the clue, a special taskforce of the Bureau launched peripheral scout and found that Dong, seller of counterfeit products who is from Anhui province, bought in fake DC batteries of various famous brands and wholesale to major digital markets in Shanghai as well as other retailers.

At the end of last July, public security department launched a surprise check on Dong and his distribution network, and ferreted out hundreds of fake DC batteries from Dong’s storehouse, involving almost all the major DC brands such as Canon, SONY, Panasonic, OLYMPUS, FUJI, Konica, MINOLTA, Nikon, CASIO and SHARP. In the beginning of September, procuratorial organization approved to arrest Dong for being suspected of selling counterfeit products of registered trademark.
