Annual Top Ten Criminal Cases of IPR infringement Ranked by the Ministry of Public Security

The Ministry of Public Security P.R. China has announced the top ten domestic criminal cases of IPR infringement yesterday. According to the information from the Ministry of Public Security, during the period from November 2004 to October 31, 2005, the IPR criminal cases handled by the departments of Public Security all over China have mounted to 2,611 with 5,001 suspects seized. These cases are valued about two billion sixty million RMB ( 245 million USD). The economic loss of 990 million RMB (120 million USD) has been retrieved.

These top ten criminal cases are: Case of counterfeit sneakers by Yuanjing LIN in Fujian Province, Case of counterfeit wines by Guanglie TANG in Sichuan province, Case of counterfeit pharmaceuticals by the gang led by Mian HUANG in Guangdong province, Case of counterfeit pesticides by Rong GUO in Jiangsu province, Case of counterfeit national pharmaceuticals of huge amount in Henan province, Case of counterfeit wines by Shouqiang LAI in Tianjing City and Guangdong province, Case of counterfeit pesticides of low quality by Mugui HE in Sichuan province, Case of counterfeit pencils by Jiantao HE in Anhui province, Case of installation of terminal server for the online game Legend III without authorization by Tangcun YOU in Shanghai City, Case of infringement of copy right by Jinsong Chen in Fujian province.
