RMB60,000 paid to HP

December 10, 2005
In June, 2004, Hewlett-Packard Development Company U.S.A. sued Shanghai Orinton Electric Ltd. (the Orinton) for trademark infringement. This is because the defendant highlighted the words “HP” on the outer packages of their own products, which are even bigger than the trademark of the defendant. Recently, Shanghai No.1 Intermediated People’s Court rendered the judgment in the first instance that Orinton shall immediately cease its infringement and pay RMB 60,000 to the HP Company as compensation for damage.
