First Enterprises Approved by CGA to Implement General Security for IPR Protection

August 31, 2006
Recently Adidas (Suzhou) Limited and Nike (Suzhou) Sports Article Co. Ltd. became the first two enterprises approved by the China Customs General Administration ("CGA") to implement general security for IPR protection.

According to the newly released stipulation by CGA, enterprises can apply for implementing general security with CGA. Upon approval, the IPR holders only need to deposit a general security to CGA when they apply for detaining the imported / exported products which are suspected to infringe their IPR rights. According to the previous practice, every time the custom seizes infringing suspect products, the IPR holders shall deposit the security required for detaining the suspected products within 3 working times to enable the custom to proceed the detainment legally. In comparison with the case-by-case security, the general security helps to save time and cost for enterprises to take anti-counterfeit actions.
