Beijing Film Association Set Up to Protect IPR in Film

The Beijing Film Association was set up on September 19, and is composed of 128 film workers and scholars. After the opening ceremony, the association held the first delegate meeting for members, and during a 2 day meeting, the first presidium for the council was formed and Zhang Heping, the initiator of the association and Chairman of Beijing People’s Art Theatre, was elected as the chairman.

“Beijing is the center for film creation, production, and communication in China and has a great deal of film talents. The Beijing Film Association is just the results of the film industry’s development in Beijing, and will be a new platform for the healthy development of the industry in future,” said Zhu Deming, Secretary of the Party Leadership Group, Beijing Federation of Literary and Art Circles. “As a private group under the CPC Beijing Municipal Committee, Beijing Film Association will become the bridge between the Party, the Government, and Capital’s film maker and film artists.”

It has been stated that the association will bring together all film workers in Beijing to boost the original film creation by exerting the predominance of locality and HR, hold workshops on film art, technology and the film industry, and held selection awarding activities. Besides, the association will also reinforce the protection of intellectual property in the film industry.
