Annual Conference on Dispute Avoidance and Resolution Lowered Its Curtain

October 27, 2009
The fourth Annual Conference on Dispute Avoidance and Resolution was held in Shanghai on September 24-25.

Over 180 business and government leaders from Intel, GM, Danone, Vodafone, Sinochem International, China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission (CIETAC), Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre (HKIAC), Singapore International Arbitration Centre (SIAC) and DIAZ REUS attended the conference.

The conference focused on the accurate understanding of development of intellectual property litigations in the U.S. under the new environment, in response to economic globalization and to highlight the brand value, and the judicial interpretation by the Supreme People’s Court on well-known mark litigations. Carlos F.Gonzalez and Robert Q.Lee, managing partners of DIAZ REUS, addressed the meeting.

During the simulated international arbitration part, a government official made an analysis of policies, dispute resolution mechanisms initiated by the Chinese government, and the present legal environment.

This is the fourth annual conference sponsored by LexisNexis (China) on IP dispute avoidance and resolution. The past three terms were respectively themed on lowering legal risks by prospective and innovative management of disputes, effectively resolving cross-border disputes by non-litigation approaches and resolving business disputes to achieve success.
