Beijing – The first stop for 2011 Roving Seminar on European Patent Regime

The 2011 Roving Seminar on European Patent Regime was held in China Intellectual Property Training Center (CIPTC). It was hosted by China's State Intellectual Property Office (SIPO) and the European Patent Office (EPO) and was jointly organized by Beijing IPO and CIPTC. Representatives from SIPO, Beijing IPO and EPO addressed the meeting.

During the seminar, EPO experts and European patent lawyers thoroughly elaborated the process of patent application, examination, objection and accusation in Europe and particularly explained the differences of writing techniques between preparing a patent document for filing in Europe and that in the USA. Later in the discussion session, representatives of Beijing local enterprise actively consulted and exchanged opinions with the European experts.

The seminar, aiming to further enhance local enterprises' capability in filing a European patent and help them to explore their market overseas, was attended by more than 100 people. It was learnt that after concluding its event in Beijing, the serial activity will also stop by at Jiangsu and Sichuan for another two seminars.
